TCI has an immediate need for a RF Design Engineer in Clifton, NJ.  This is not a Corp2Corp opportunity.  This is a long term contract opportunity with probable extension and possible hire.  This position requires a current DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment or other hardware systems. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support development.


  • Design analog/RF/microwave circuit cards and microelectronics assemblies for use in electronic warfare applications with challenging SWaP requirements
  • Interpret system design documents and decompose specifications for lower level RF assemblies
  • Microwave Solid State High Power Amplifier (HPA) Design
  • Select COTS components within unit production cost guidelines
  • Specify custom or semi-custom components to achieve required system performance
  • Supervise layout of complex multi-layer PCBs
  • Develop test specifications and execute design verification tests for developmental and production hardware
  • Review the work of junior engineers and provide guidance where needed                           


  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field and 6 years of related experience
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field and 4 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to simulate microwave circuits using Keysight ADS (preferred) or similar tools
  • Demonstrated ability to simulate microwave circuits using Keysight ADS (preferred) or similar tools
  • Thorough understanding of key RF parameters (bandwidth, gain compression, intermodulation distortion, noise figure, spurious emissions)
  • Solid fundamentals in electrical engineering (ability to design and analyze transistor level circuits)
  • Works independently with general guidance.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Millimeter wave design experience
  • Exposure to both PCB and chip/wire circuit construction
  • Familiarity with Cadence Allegro schematic capture tool
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC suppression techniques
  • Experience with frequency conversion and synthesis
  • Simulation of passive structures using 3D EM tools
  • MMIC design experience
  • Analog circuit design (op-amps, data converters, log video amplifiers, PLL)
